History

Pediatric Specialists of Virginia (PSV) was created by Children’s National Health System and Inova as a unique Northern Virginia-based, physician group practice dedicated exclusively to the needs of children. In 2013, these two pediatric powerhouses combined their strengths and talents to offer the children and families in Northern Virginia access to the best specialty care possible, drawn from both parent organizations.

Pediatric Specialists of Virginia launched with five specialties— Hematology and Oncology, Gastroenterology, Genetics, Nephrology, and Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. In its first year, PSV doubled the specialties available, adding Neurology, Neurosurgery, Infectious Disease, Endocrinology, and Rheumatology. In the next several years, PSV will grow with additional specialties and services to benefit those served, including the expansion of a state-of-the-art pediatric Ambulatory Surgery Center in 2015.

In January, 2015, Pediatric Specialists of Virginia was notified that it is considered a public charity and tax exempt under Section 501 (c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code similar to both of its tax exempt parent organization, Children's National Health System and Inova. Therefore, any donations made to PSV since its creation in September, 2013 were considered charitable and tax exempt.  This status will allow PSV to pursue additional funding sources for research and support of innovative models of care and education for the benefit of the patients and communities served.
